SEISMIC STRENGTHENING
This project involved the structural strengthening of this 11 storey building, to increase the seismic rating of the building from approx. 40%NBS to 70%NBS. Work included the installation of steel supports throughout the building’s interior, and external detachment from The Terrace footpath by way of a significant seismic supports.
This work was undertaken in a fully tenanted building, restricting hours of operation throughout the day. This was further compounded by the building adjoining a fully operational hotel, limiting work into the night and being positioned on both of Wellington’s busiest streets (Lambton Quay and The Terrace).
In spite of these restrictions, with careful management of both the tenants and the hotel operator, we were able to maintain programme on a complex installation without causing disruption to any of the parties affected by the work.
The project was delivered on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the owner, with minimum inconvenience to tenants and neighbours.
